Overview

Traverce is a Chrome extension and companion iPhone app that help you work with your existing Google Tasks. The extension adds planning views and controls alongside Google Tasks. The Capture app lets you speak or type a task, review it, and send it to Google Tasks.

Traverce does not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or transfer it to data brokers. Google user data is used only to provide and improve the user-facing features you choose to use.

Information the Chrome extension handles

Google account and Google Tasks data

When you connect your Google account, the extension receives an authorization token and may access your Google account email address. With your permission, it reads and modifies Google Tasks data such as task lists, task titles, notes, due dates, completion status, order, and parent/subtask relationships. This access is necessary to show smart views, organize and prioritize tasks, create or update tasks, and keep changes in sync with Google Tasks.

Traverce communicates directly with Google's authentication and Google Tasks services. We do not operate a separate server that stores a copy of your Google Tasks data.

Current page information

If you use the capture-current-page feature, the extension reads the active tab's title and URL so it can prepare a Google Task from that page. This happens only when you invoke the feature. The extension also runs on Google Tasks and the Google Tasks panel in Google Calendar so it can display Traverce's interface there. It does not collect a general history of the websites you visit.

Settings and local data

The extension stores preferences and working data in Chrome storage, including display settings, planner settings, category and ordering choices, the selected Google account, temporary page-capture data, and cached authorization information. Most of this data remains on your device. Preferences that use Chrome's sync storage may be synchronized by Google across browsers where you are signed in to Chrome. Diagnostic information is kept locally only when debugging is enabled.

Information the Capture app handles

Google account and Google Tasks data

When you connect Google Tasks, the app uses Google Sign-In and requests permission to read and manage your Google Tasks. It reads task lists and tasks needed for the features you use and sends the tasks or changes you approve to Google. Google sign-in credentials are managed using Google's sign-in software and Apple's protected device storage.

Microphone and speech recognition

Voice capture uses the microphone and Apple's Speech framework only after you grant permission and start recording. Audio and speech data may be processed by Apple according to your device settings and Apple's privacy terms. Traverce uses the resulting transcript to create an editable task draft. Nothing is sent to Google Tasks until you choose to send it.

On-device app data

The app stores preferences, selected lists, mappings, task drafts, recent task information needed by its features, and tasks waiting to be retried if Google Tasks is temporarily unavailable. This data is stored on your device and, where needed, in the app group shared with Traverce widgets. Traverce does not use this information for advertising or profiling.

Website data

You can visit this public website without creating a Traverce account. Like most hosted websites, our hosting provider may process standard request information such as your IP address, browser type, requested page, date and time, and security or error logs to deliver, protect, and maintain the site. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate page traffic, referral sources, device and browser categories, approximate location, and website performance. Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use cookies or collect personal data for this service. We do not use advertising cookies or behavioral profiling.

How information is used and shared

We use information only to:

  • authenticate you and connect the product to your Google Tasks;
  • display, create, edit, organize, and synchronize tasks at your direction;
  • provide voice capture, widgets, page capture, preferences, and related features;
  • maintain security, troubleshoot problems, and operate the website; and
  • comply with law or protect users, Traverce, and the public when legally required.

Information is shared only with service providers needed to deliver these functions, principally Google for sign-in and Google Tasks, Apple for speech recognition and app platform services, and our website hosting provider. We do not allow these transfers for personalized advertising. We may also disclose information if required by law or as part of a business transfer, subject to this policy and applicable law.

Traverce's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Traverce's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs also adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Retention, security, and your choices

Locally stored information remains until you clear it, sign out, uninstall the extension or app, or remove the relevant task or draft. Data stored in Google Tasks remains subject to your Google account settings and Google's retention practices. Hosting security logs are retained only as long as reasonably needed for operation, security, and legal obligations.

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted connections to Google services and platform-provided protected storage. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

You can edit or delete tasks in Google Tasks, revoke Traverce's Google access from your Google Account permissions, deny or revoke microphone and speech-recognition access in iOS Settings, clear the extension's stored data, or uninstall either product. Depending on where you live, you may also have legal rights to access, correct, or delete personal information or object to certain processing.

Children

Traverce is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

We may update this policy as Traverce changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. Questions or privacy requests may be sent to traverce-privacy@b-vault.org.
